La Fortuna

Few places afford the impressive and captivating proximity to a (now) dormant volcano combined with a wealth of biological and geological diversity like La Fortuna.

This gateway to eco-adventure in the North summons countless visitors to roam coffee plantations and old lava fields, explore rich rainforest, rappel enchanting waterfalls, ride white water rapids, and take a dip in hot thermal springs. Whether relaxing on the deck of your mountain lodge, taking a leisurely stroll along hanging bridges, or horseback riding through the hills the unmistakable silhouette of Arenal looms large on the horizon; a reminder of the raw power beneath the natural beauty of this place.

Monteverde

Climb into the clouds, breathe in the fresh air, and find yourself surrounded by the incredible biodiversity of this naturalist’s dream.

Uncover the wonders of the ‘green mountain’ as you explore the mystic cloud forest in search of the elusive resplendent quetzal or revel in adrenaline fuelled zip-lining high in the treetops. Originally settled by the Quakers, this eco-conscious community has a rustic charm, commitment to hospitality and amazing coffee that nature enthusiasts and adrenaline seekers alike have come to love.

Bajos del Toro

Off the beaten path and full of hidden gems, this small town located just an hour and half from the capital of San Jose is home to a plethora of stunning waterfalls and incredible biodiversity.

While often overlooked by visitors, Bajos del Toro is not to be underestimated with a national park that harbours various species of birds including the quetzal as well as large cats, and plenty of uncrowded trails for the adventurous hiker offering rewards in the form of magical and refreshing rivers and waterfall pools to discover and indulge.

Bijagua de Upala

An escape from the busier tourist destinations of neighbouring Arenal and Monteverde, this small town is known for its authentic feel, rural charm, and charismatic locals.
