Children’s Eternal Rainforest

As Costa Rica’s largest private reserve, the Bosque Eterno de los Niños (BEN) was founded by donations from children in 44 countries, and is run by a nonprofit conservation organization, the Monteverde Conservation League.

The Monteverde Conservation League is charged with protecting the Children’s Eternal Rainforest through the acquisition of critical and strategic pieces of land as funds are available. Their efforts however do not stop here as they recognize the importance maintaining programs focused on education, research, and volunteering in order teach, inspire, and engage the next generation as conservationists by nature rather than by choice.

Through donations they currently provide educational programs in more than 20 local elementary schools to promote stewardship and conservation. These funds also support research projects within the BEN in an effort to better understand and protect the ecosystems and biodiversity within. In addition, a reforestation project has successfully planted more than 1 millions trees in the region over the past 30 years.
